LINKIN PARK NFT
Mike Shinoda, who co-founded Linkin Park in 1996 has raised $30,000 from his first NFT. Titled “One-Hundredth Stream”, the NFT features music created by Shinoda, “this way would likely be more lucrative than releasing a song worldwide through traditional methods”.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK
This week we have an exclusive interview with the Artist and Collector Lander @LanderNFT. We spoke about his digital art collection and the future of NFTs.
Hello there! Nice to meet a fellow DIY enthusiast, my wardrobes may not be straight but they will forever be loved. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us today.
Your welcome, it's amazing what you can learn by doing things yourself or at least making an attempt before considering other options. An experienced friend and a case of beer is my favorite option.
So you are a digital art collector is it fair to say? Can you explain to us please how you have found your way onto the digital art scene and why you are now buying digital art?
Yes, that would be fair to say, but it still feels odd saying. It started with me wanting to learn about inflation. That in turn led me to crypto and the coinbase wallet. Inside of that was these dapps. DCL, Cryptopunks, and a few others. My first purchase was a plot of land in DCL from there I moved to punks. I joined the punks discord and the best part about NFT's the community!
I've always had a bit of a collecting bug. I collected baseball cards for a few years as a child but never really got hooked. The one constant from then until now was video games and inside of many, you will find markets for digital items. Off and on for 20 years, I have been trading for fun and better in-game items.
For me, it was easy to see the value in NFT's as a lifelong gamer. But that said not all of my peers agreed. Some listened, some mocked and one joined the fun a bit. I didn't buy any art at first just what I would call collectibles. I think it started with Josie? I wanted some of her work and ended up reaching out to her. She much to my surprise had a chat with me. I felt like I was talking to a celebrity. If I had to try to pinpoint where my newfound passion for art started that would probably be it. Prior to March of 2020, I had never purchased art.
Is there a particular process you go through when selecting the artwork you bid on and are there any particular reasons you buy the pieces you buy?
I don't have a set process. I just buy what I love
Do you ever consider selling your pieces of art and if so, do you have any protocol for determining that time?
I have sold some art. Mostly when either I notice a good opportunity or when one is offered to me.
KittyBast has delivered some quite exceptional pieces of work, can you tell us what attracted you to this particular artist and her work?
A friend pointed her out to me. The collaboration she did with Cechk is stunning and one of my favorite NFTs in my collection. The colors and eyes sold me instantly.
You are clearly very enthusiastic about the digital art world and your Twitter is definitely somewhere to visit for inspiration, what is it about the digital art world that you find exciting?
I love seeing people's lives change. Mine included lol. My social media has been very surprising to me since I’ve been on Facebook for a decade and have 50 "friends" there. I'm nearing 1,000 followers now which shocks me. I just try to be helpful.
Can you tell us what you feel the future of NFTs is and the future of digital art? Is there a particular branch of this newfound art world that has you particularly excited?
The future is hard to predict but I think it will be these days I will cherish. If we do "go to the moon" space will never be as friendly as it is now I fear.
Async and on-chain image storage have me excited. Most NFT's images are stored on a hard drive not inside of the blockchain. But that is the direction we are headed. Upgrading older tokens to on-chain will more than likely happen also. Also, interoperability between worlds such as DCL, Crypto Voxels, Sandbox, and any other I'm missing is something I'm looking forward to.
Do you have any tips for those of our readers who are interested in purchasing digital art and becoming collectors themselves?
Be careful!! The biggest risk to the security of your money is yourself. There are hardware wallets that can eliminate most of the users' errors. Learn about the tech you are using beforehand. If this sounds like too much there are platforms such as niftygateway and makersplace among others that accept fiat. I really do feel going that route skips most of the fun but maybe that's the DIY in me.
Are there any artists in particular that you think we should look out for going forward?
Some of my favorites include Josie, pxlpet, Mlibty, Stina, Xcopy and so many others. Buy what you love not what anyone else tells you to buy!
Thank you for sharing great insight into your perspective of the digital art world, it was great seeing such an enthusiastic approach from you in your social media and I hope your DIY is far more robust than mine!
Just fixed a broken toilet, hope the repair lasts longer this time ;) On a final note, there are many different ways to get NFT's. Not all of them require money. I would argue the best thing about NFT's is free and that is the community, the people. Thanks for the great questions! Cheers!
