Beeple’s ‘TIME The Future of Business’ $290,000 Sale
Digital artist Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple @beeple, has created a special cover for TIME Magazine’s @TIME May 10th issue that has just sold for 126.5Ξ ($290,000) at auction. The cover image depicts his actual computer interface mid-design, complete with a wireframe render of a figure interacting on the left and a more complete version on right.
“With this artwork, I wanted to show how everyone is becoming more digital as more and more of our interests and identity are moving online,” said Beeple. “People’s sense of self is quickly becoming a mix of real and virtual.” In addition to purchasing the 1 of 1 NFT, auction winner @Hanrgb also received a physical digital display with a custom red border, a nod to TIME Magazine’s distinctive styling. PACMAN x Genies: Into The Future NFT Collection
Avatar technology company Genies @genies has partnered with Bandai Namco Entertainment @BandaiNamcoUS to release a digitally wearable PAC-MAN NFT celebrating the iconic game’s 41st birthday. Genies’ app allows users to create fully personalized avatars to be used on social media platforms. The collection features six editions of the colourful Genies X PAC-MAN helmet, each redesigned in a unique style, as well as a 1-of-1 avatar art piece featuring an avatar wearing the helmet while being chased by the iconic ghost.
“We see our wearables as kind of that next step in how people can evolve their avatars and collect moments that are special to them,” Allison Sturges, Head of Genies’ Asia Operations. “Eventually, we want to allow anyone to create their own avatar wearable NFTs as well.” To see more information about the NFT drop, visit the collection page here.

Los Angeles‘ Iconic Hollywood Sign to Become an NFT
Creative platform Sugar23, founded by Oscar-winning film producer Michael Sugar @SugarMichael, has partnered with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce @HollywoodArea to auction Los Angeles‘ iconic Hollywood Sign as an NFT. “When we thought about what could be the most iconic opportunity possible, we naturally thought of the most iconic image in the world – the Hollywood sign – and are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce,” Sugar said in a statement.
Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Chamber’s humanitarian efforts, which include organizations serving education, diversity, inclusion and homeless populations within its Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation. The project is still in the early stages of development, with no specifics announced yet, but the platform is aiming for a sale in summer 2021.
Amy Winehouse x MusiCares NFT Auction
Non-profit organization MusiCares @MusiCares has recently confirmed that they will be collaborating with the Amy Winehouse Foundation @AmysFoundation to release an Amy Winehouse NFT that will go up for sale as part of a new charity auction. “[The photographer] has captured a fresh-faced Amy full of life and fun, I treasure those photos," Janis Winehouse, Amy's mother.
Laura Segura, the Executive Director of MusiCares, said the organization hopes to raise further awareness and funds to aid the support for musicians who may be struggling with addiction and substance abuse. Proceeds from the auction will be used by MusiCares to “strengthen its support of music people working to improve their mental health”.
