A prominent figure in the art world, Kenny Schacter @kennyschac has written countless columns for Artnet, has been covered by The New York Times, and more. He has recently found an interest in the NFT space and has released several collections. One collection titled ‘That's All Folks’ features the ex-president Donald Trump in a Looney Tunes parody.
This collection was made just before the inauguration of Joe Biden, 20 January 2021, 5:00 pm GMT. Only five editions of the collection exist and were all quickly purchased by eager collectors from $2,500 - $300.

Artist of the Week
This week we have an exclusive interview with the artist Kristy Glas, we spoke about the effects of social media on the public, fantasy elements, and NFTs.
Hello Kristy and thank you for taking the time to answer some questions and have a chat with us today. I must say I think I watched Control about 20 times. Which was rather ironic given the message you were sending. It is really a testament to your ability as a communicator through art though.
Thank you, it’s really satisfying to hear when my art has a strong impact that I was hoping for. Whenever I work on a bigger project I prefer to put in the extra effort so it’s hopefully memorable.
Speaking of communication through art, you send what I feel is quite a heartfelt message in your description of your piece Control. Which is an exceptional piece of work by the way. What do you foresee as the future of social media and the grip it has on us, humans? Can you see it as a force for positive ultimately, or a negative one?
Social media will continue to have a grip on us for the time being, but awareness of this addiction is growing rapidly. Ultimately I think social media will be a positive force, as the negative concerns are being addressed, potentially with private tools and extensions that will remove all of the addicting properties.
You paint a lot of fantastical imagery with pots and potions and pieces such as the wizard’s tower, is there a story you are piecing together for us in the combination with many pieces of your art? Or it is just a particular genre you like to explore?
The Adventure series is taking place in one universe, but I’m exploring from various directions, usually from inspiration. I’d like to see where the story will take me, as it’s an abstract diary in the form of fantasy art. I say abstract because I’ve heard many awesome and different interpretations of the artworks from other people. It’s a pleasure to see people connecting to it in various ways.
Your Dragons are exceptional, I really like the sketched style with, yet again, intriguing backstories behind them. Can you tell us why the art style of the dragons is somewhat different from most of your other work? They are almost drawn like collectibles themselves?
The dragons are actually an old project that I started in January 2018, way before I knew about NFT-s. I was practicing concept art, by challenging myself to draw over 100 different types of dragon heads. The first ones were quite a cliche and basic, but with each page, I started creating more unique designs. Also, it was my regular style at the time, and I still use it occasionally. I have a lot more art in that style that I haven’t tokenized because I feel that art is a bit outdated and I’m not sure if anyone would be interested to collect my old inked dragons.
I’ve always approached art styles a bit differently from other artists. I enjoy painting in various styles, often depending on my mood. I have multiple styles that I can use at any time and I’ve developed over the years of practice. I have certainly improved my styles over time, but that’s usually thanks to learning better perspective, shading, and other art basics.
When I found out about NFT-s, my first impression was that those are like card collections, so I figured my dragon heads would fit really well. My 2020 version of this project is Pixel Cats, where each cat has a unique design, even though I plan to make many more.
Can you tell us what advantages of NFTs you feel benefit artists the most and with regards to digital art in general, is there any particular direction it is going in that excites you and you cannot wait to see what artists come up with, perhaps programmable art for example?
Programmable art is incredible and I feel like there is much more that can be done in that sense. I’m not a developer, so I use the tools available and I try to find ways to make my projects different in some way. I also think there will be way more ways for everyone to gamify their digital NFT-s in the future. I’m constantly learning about new platforms and projects, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if someone is already working on this. The NFT community is incredibly pro-active and really exciting.
